ESSENTIALS
OF EXCELLENCE
ACADEMY

Beverly Manley, the founder of Essentials of Excellence Academy, was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. When attending Detroit Public Schools, Beverly felt she needed more assistance in learning to read. She had decided at a youthful age that she would teach herself how to read, so books became her best friend. While growing up struggling to read, Beverly Ashley at the time, was determined not to allow anyone in her environment to have the same struggles, so she decided with her second career to become an educator. After working in a public school district, she noticed the struggles in high school, middle school, and elementary school students with reading and comprehension. In her free time, she helps students to learn how to read and encourages them to work hard on achieving their dream. After volunteering with an organization that tutor students online in reading and comprehension, Beverly noticed the younger students were having trouble with learning online. So, she decided to create an environment to accommodate students, by going back to in-person learning. Her transportation unit can reach students who have no transportation and provide them with the environment they need to become successful in learning. In conjunction with mobile tutoring, local partners will donate their facilities and volunteers to tutor students on demand.

(Due to Covid-19, we will still be following the CDC guidelines for in-person learning.)
